An Assistant Agriculture Officer (AAO) assists in putting agricultural policies and programmes into action, supports and mentors farmers, and advocates for agricultural practices within their block. Usually, they are employed by the government or by agricultural extension agencies.

Dr. Pathak. He is a Soil Scientist turned secretary at GoI. He is an Assistant Agriculture Officer in Himachal Pradesh and championed the transition to organic horticulture. He guided farmers in adopting organic practices for growing apples and other fruits. The shift not only improved the quality of produce but also opened up new markets for organic fruits, enhancing the economic prospects of the region.
