A Smart Phone Technician examines the smart phone, diagnoses its faults, replaces the faulty components and repairs it. They can perform front end or hardware level repair as and when required. They are also trained to resolve software issues and ensure effective functioning before delivering the phone back to customers.

P. Balasubramanian was born in a small village in Tamil Nadu and came from a large family. After passing from school he needed to start earning and this started his struggle for livelihood. This was the time of the cell phone boom and he was advised by a friend to do a course in mobile phone repair. After completing training in mobile repair he opened a tiny shop in Parry’s corner, Chennai for mobile repairing. But that business was short-lived since he could not get any well trained technician to assist him. He took up a job with a mobile phone service training institute in the city for a salary of Rs 10,000 and in 2006, he joined a mobile phone retail chain, The Mobile Store, as their technical head for Tamil Nadu for a salary of Rs 25,000.
